For more than fifty years, Na Bolom has received volunteers from diverse parts of the country and the world. The experience and service that these volunteers bring has made many of our projects possible as well as conform a network of contacts that has helped our labors. The volunteer work enriches the organization and the volunteers themselves, promoting an intercultural exchange, global alliances and friendships.

TYPES OF VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

General Public

Individuals interested in the diverse cultures of Chiapas , or sustainable conservation and development can dedicate themselves to strengthening and support an area of our project activities.

Minimum stay: two months.

Social Service (National or Foreign)

Professionals or students can earn school credits by working on a study, a specific project or administrative tasks.

Minimum stay: tree to five months.

Thesis

For the Bachelors /Licenciatura, Masters and PhD. Themes in accordance with the Na Bolom mission.

Virtual Volunteers

This long-distance exchange consists of contributing knowledge to the Na Bolom mission through the work of translations, essays, reference articles, web design, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

. The Social Service program requires a minimum stay of five months for professionals and students and three months for volunteers outside of an educational program

. The program requires that the volunteer be able to financially provide for themselves and/or have scholarships/grants. Na Bolom does not cover room and board for volunteers . In some special cases, the organization is able to provide lodging for volunteers (if interested in lodging, be sure to mention it in your letter of intent).

. A strong Spanish background; intermediate level experience with the language (in the case of foreign volunteers)

.A letter of intent and a curriculum vitae (two pages maximum)

SUPPORT OFFERED BY THE ORGANIZATION

The Na Bolom Cultural Association, a civil organization, receives a limited number of volunteers each year. We offer advising and technical support in the execution of the work, constancy of services lent, we cover the caused expenses by the activities (material expenses, etc.) as well as space in office and access to the equipment and material that are required (computer, audio and visual equipment), we give suggestions to locate a lodging, with the purpose to create a pleasant stay and have a good and rich work experience to benefit the community and the environment.
