THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The Na Bolom Cultural Association's Artist in Residence Program has been in existence for more than fifty years. Artists apply for a minimum stay of thirty days and a maximum stay of sixty days. In the case the artist is chosen for the program, their participation in the program will challenge them on both an intercultural and interdisciplinary level. The program consists of two phases: 1) form, and 2) concretion.

Residence periods: May - June, September -October of each year.

Phase 1:

In the first stage, the selected artist is to create a work of art that will be presented in an exhibition or theater presentation at the Na Bolom Museum. At the end of the program, the artist's work will become donated as part of Na Bolom's art collection.

In the case of a musical work, the artist will be granted a concert in which the proceedings of the performance will go to benefit the Medical Lacandón Fund.

This phase only pertains to artists who will be staying for thirty days.

Phase 2:

The artist will create an artist exchange by conducting a workshop for regional artists or for children of the Lacandón communities.
