In 1951, Na Bolom succeeded in creating San Cristóbal as its destined location for a research center in Chiapas . The center was directed to serve the general public as well as specialists such as journalists, who would have access to visual documents and catalog collections on the culture of Chiapas . In addition to the wealth of information found at Na Bolom, this research center serves to connect local information with external resources located at other institutions.

Na Bolom possesses a scholarly collection that is located in our photo library and is available for use by the public.

The Na Bolom collections are made available for scholars conducting post-graduate research, analyses, cataloguing, etc., as well as those interested in becoming published. Na Bolom contains a wealth of research materials for future generations of scholars.

In the same manner, Na Bolom organizes courses and workshops in a variety of academic fields such as anthropology, archaeology, history and biology. Na Bolom prides itself in promoting study and research in the Maya region. Na Bolom encourages the diffusion of Chiapanecan cultural heritage among the student community and interested visitors.
